UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, seeking companies to align strategies and operations with ten universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption and take actions that advance the UN sustainable development goals.
In Techstep we are committed to a real impact that benefits society. In 2021, we embedded sustainability as an integral part of Techstep’s corporate strategy and aligned our ESG priorities with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We have identified SDG 12 as the most important to prioritise, as our solutions directly relate to responsible consumption of mobile devices. One of our key solutions, «SmartDevice» promotes circularity and responsible consumption of mobile devices through life-cycle management and proper end-of-life handling. Educating customers and employees on sustainable consumption is a priority going forward. Other relevant goals identified are Climate Action (#13), Gender Equality (#5) and Decent work and economic growth (#8).
“The membership with UN Global Compact will strengthen our commitment to ethical and responsible business practices. It is also a way of showing publicly our commitment to work systematically to raise standards and develop initiatives that will help us, our customers and society at large make the world of work smarter and more sustainable”.
- Cathrine Birkenes, Head of Sustainability and Compliance
Through our membership we are committing to UN Global Compact's Ten Principles related to human rights, labor rights, the environment and anti-corruption. We will submit an annual “communication on progress”, with a description of actions taken during the year to implement the Ten Principles.
Read more about our efforts and plans going forward in the Annual Report 2021, especially on our ESG activities included in a separate sustainability chapter of the annual report.
